Continuing The Physics Room's ongoing interest in supporting the practices of emerging and experimental artists, Fresh is a series which profiles the work of thirteen of New Zealand's most exciting current practitioners. All recent graduates from arts institutions, both local and international, these artists draw on a vast terrain of medium and criticality's, giving an overview of the diversity and depth of contemporary practice today.

December 2000 saw the first three shows in the Fresh series, with new work by Christchurch based artists Eddie Clemens, Dan Arps, and Ella Reed. Graduates from the University of Canterbury's School of Fine Arts, their work is informed by both the stark aestheticism of an art historical minimalism, and the throwaway consumerism of contemporary pop culture. Landscape and the environment appear as central tenets in all three exhibitions, in installations which owe as much to Stephen Tindall's The Warehouse as they do the land art movement of the 1970's and 80's.
